I have been a coach at Man Made off and on for 4 years. Before I moved to Fort Worth, I had been picking up classes. When my husband and I moved back, I had the opportunity to become a more permanent coach. I love coaching. I love our community, our members, our cohesion as a staff and as members but ultimately I love the friendships that have been built through the sweat and barbells inside Man Made’s doors.
My background comes from soccer. I played div. 1 soccer at SHSU on an athletic scholarship from ‘04-‘08. I learned my love for lifting there. Our team had 5:30am weights in the off season and I fell in love with getting strong, pushing my boundaries, and exceeding my own expectations of myself.
After college, as most graduated athletes come to find, I was lost and didn’t have anything to keep me competitive. After a life long career of knowing nothing but competition, it was easier to take some time off but also I found myself over weight and underwhelmed. I found CrossFit after I graduated. In 2013 I went to my first class at Geaux CrossFit in Louisiana. For the next 6 years I spent my time investing in myself, in my nutrition and ultimately in becoming a competitive athlete again. I spent 5 years competing and perfecting the skills needed to be a competitor and Carrie and I became so close through our love for this sport. I knew it would forever be a part of who I am. And though I’ve taken steps back from being a competitive athlete, CrossFit will always be a part of my life and who I am.
